Is Russell Westbrook Trying to Help the Thunder Win or Just Get Triple Doubles?
Russell Westbrook has been a beast this season, averaging a triple double and on the path to breaking records. However, we know Russell is also out to prove something, he definitely has a chip on his shoulder, and since Kevin Durant's departure he has even more to prove. While he is averaging a triple double, he is not always efficient, he takes very bad shots sometimes and can be erratic when it comes to crunch time, not to mention he has a lot of turnovers. But the Thunder are winning games. So whats the deal here? well, lets look at some stats.
- The Thunder are now 15-3 this season when Westbrook records a triple-double.
- But those wins have come mostly against sub-.500 teams.
- He has 20 triple doubles so far as of January 16th, 2016.
So we see the that games won are against sub-par teams who Russell can easily take advantage of. This is not to take away anything from his skill and ability but we need to see his team win against teams that are north of .500. I truly think Westbrook's intentions are to win but I know he definitely wants to keep up his triple double average so he can break some records and win MVP.
